Ed Davis is arguably the best big option in this Lakers team, especially when Boozer keeps shooting them mid-range jumpers that he is so horrible at. Jordan Hill is limited, and is really only there as a body to grab boards, otherwise offensively he is as limited as Lin is without a pick and roll option. I thought Lin summed it up pretty well last season when he lost his starting job to Beverley - "it is more important that I am on the court during crunch time in the fourth quarter than having my name called out at the beginning of the game." If players like Manu Ginobili, Ray Allen, Jamal Crawford and greats like Frank Ramsey and John Havlicek can accept bench roles, why can't Boozer? Boozer still played 28 minutes last night, joint second with Jordan Hill behind only Kobe Bryant. If the team is winning then a small sacrifice is surely worth it?... |
