Basically a boring game. It's true that the Spurs' partial bench (with 2 starters) outscored the GSW's bench, though not by as much as I thought. However, if you look at the stats of the game, you can see that the GSW bench actually managed to beat the Spurs in offensive rebounding by 20-7 (offensive rebounding is better indication of rebounding capability, defensive rebounding is more affected by poor shooting). They also produced fewer turnovers (15-18) & fouls (16-18). Both teams are about even when comparing steals + blocks. As a result, the Spurs actually attempted significantly more shots (92-77=15 shots). They also got more free throws (23-18). The main reason they lost the game is they shot poorly (worse than normal, partial credit to Spurs' defense). The game was almost determined by two players: McCaw, who normally is a rather good shooter, shot 0-12, and Mills, who shot way better than his norm.
It's really rare for the GSW to out-rebound their opponents by that much, so this shows that their benches were playing hard, though there were holes in their defenses that allowed the Spurs to score more. On the other hand, the Spurs need to improve on their team play too. You cannot expect to win the game if you give up 15 more shots and 5 more free throws to your opponents.作者: 20523311219 時間: 2017-3-12 10:09 PM
